After the Holidays

After all the red and green, silver and gold, tinsel and twinkling lights, packing up the holiday decorations can make your house look blah. Keep all those freestanding lace snowflakes to hang in the window. What, you don't have any snowflakes? Now would be a good time to make a few.

Winter is the perfect time to sew, quilt and embroider. Spend some time reading the owner's manuals for your machine and software, or work you way through a tutorial. Now that the pressure is off, try a new technique or stitch that fabulous project you never had time for.

Spend a little time organizing your embroidery designs. If your CD does not include a printed guide that shows the designs, use Buzz Tools or Embird to print thumbnails.

Keep the designs on your hard drive organized into folders. If you missed the free folders, download them by clicking here. Extract these folders to your hard drive. The zip file will appear to contain a single file repeated over and over, but if you extract the entire archive, the folders will magically appear wherever you saved them. You may delete the authorship.txt file in each folder. The folders would not zip unless there was something inside them. The set of folders includes a place for website URLs, tips, project instructions and tutorials. You can change folder names or add more folders as the need arises.
